Abstract
The results of the studies aimed at identifying associations between the CSN3, BLG, SCD1, and PIT1 genes and milk productivity and reproductive performance in the Simmental cows are presented. Milk productivity was studied for the third and older lactations in the herd of cows in the Altai Krai (n=86). A positive effect of the CSN3AA and CSN3AB genotypes on milk yield, milk fat and milk protein content was demonstrated. Maximum differences compared to the CSN3BB genotype were 1971.2 kg in milk yield, 84 kg in milk fat, and 63.6 kg in milk protein (second lactation). Desirable variants of the BLG gene were identified. Cows with the BLGAA genotype outperformed their peers with alternative genotypes in milk yield by 1132.2 kg to 1209.7 kg, depending on the lactation. Cows with the BLGAA and BLGАB genotypes had higher milk fat and protein content by 42.8–53,4 kg and 36.4-36.9 kg, respectively, than animals with the BLGBB genotype. According to the SCD1 gene, in the third lactation and later, cows with the SCD1TT genotype had an advantage over their peers with alternative genotypes in milk yield by 1271.9-1349.7 kg, fat mass fraction by 0.03 and 0.04%, milk fat by 54,9–58,5 kg, and milk protein by 41.0-43.6 kg. Analysis of the associations between the Pit1 gene genotypes revealed that the homozygous Pit1AA variant of this gene was superior in the second and third lactations. The superiority of milk yield over the Pit1AB genotype was at the level of 2451.8 kg, fat content by 0.06%, milk fat by 106.7 kg, milk protein by 79.2 kg. The dry stage and service stage between lactations in the Simmental cows in the analyzed herd correspond to physiological norms: the dry stage was 57.7-61.3 days, and the service stage between lactations was 73.8-124.6 days.
